(Hal. 194)

Rating for this book: 4,8/10

Bodhi, do not know where he came from since a baby. He was first found by a monk under a tamarind tree in front of the temple, Bodhi spent most of his youth in the care of Bhiksu Liong. Born-with abnormal protruding bone on his head-Bodhi has an abnormality and eccentricity; may visualize himself to others, and to animals. Later, Bhiksu Liong ordered him to go away from Vihara. And the adventure of Bodhi’s journey started. He go around the South East Asia.

After failing to capture the intent Dee wrote earlier novel, Supernova # 1: Knight, Princess and The Shooting Star, again and again I fail to grasp the idea of this book. I know, interesting to follow the journey of Bodhi, travelling in South East Asia was pretty exciting, met an old rastafarian, be friend with Caucasians named Tristan who decides to turn his life into a Buddhist priest, and be best friend with Kell, whose Bodhi studied art tattooed from, and the story of Kell’s death in a minefield. What I do not understand is why Dee loved to insert a complicated theory that elusive readers like me.

And I also could not help wondering why this prequel novel could be one to be waiting for. For me, a good writer can be judged simply by how far the reader understand the purpose and the content of the book. While in Supernova, I can not understand, for what Bodhi search for authenticity? What do you mean monk Liong said that Bodhi is ‘his teacher’? What is the role of Bong in Bodhi’s life? I think there are some missing parts in this story. Just like, why at the beginning of the page tells the story of Gio and Diva, if immediately interrupted until the end by the story of Bodhi? And even, there is no connection between Gio and Bodhi. If Dee means to explain the connection between Gio and Bodhi in the next book, just dont tell Gio’s story in this book. It makes this book so weird.

What is the relationship Gio, Diva, with Bodhi? Where Supernova character that appears in the first book, which makes the whole book is worth a sequel called ‘Supernova’? Looks like Dee just wrote whatever thing which comes in her mind. Well, since I have not read the next two books on this sequel, this story may still seem strange. But from the first two books, I have no interest in reading the next sequel soon.

But, I love these quotes ..

“Because ignorance is better than sadness. More than anything. “(P. 194)
